At the end of the racing season, awards will be given to the top drivers based on total points scored by the drivers during the season. Scoring is based on a handicap system (PAX factor) developed by the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). This handicap system allows us to adjust the run time of each car based on the capabilities of the individual car. We multiply the drivers raw time by the handicap factor to determine an adjusted run time and corresponding placement of each driver. Three points are awarded for a first place finish, two points for second place finish, one point for a third place finish. One point is awarded to each driver who participates. A first place finish would net the driver four points for a given race. Ties in total points will be broken by first considering most participation points, then best time in heads up races and finally the numbers of times the driver placed.
Our insurance requires us to operate under some new rules. A summary of the rules is:
Anyone who drives the autocross course must be a member of the Lone Star Corvette club, have a valid driver's license, be 17 or older and have current insurance policy on the vehicle that will be driven on the course.
Cars driven on the course must undergo a technical inspection prior to racing. The inspection consists of observing there are no obvious fluid leaks, the battery is tied down, wheel bearings and suspension are solid, and there are no other obvious safety related issues.
Drivers and passengers must wear helmets when they are in a car on the course. Our insurance allows DOT approved helmets or better such as Snell (K, M and SA) rated helmets. Note: If you would ever want to drive in an SCCA or Equipe Rapide sanctioned race, you have to wear a K, M or SA Snell rated helmet with a manufacture date within 15 years of the current date.
Everyone who attends the event (drivers, passengers and spectators) must sign a waiver of liability. A copy of the waiver form can be viewed or printed using the button at the top of the page.
Spectators do not have to be a club member. They must remain in a designated spectator area and are not allowed in the pits. No minors under the age of 17 can be in attendance.
Brookhaven College requires us to operate under a few rules contained in a contract we signed with the college. Those rules are: no smoking or lighting of matches or other flames except in designated smoking areas, no controlled substances, no illegal drugs, no drug paraphernalia, no alcohol and no weapons (including CHL holders).
