Classic Texas Motor SpeedwayTrack time on the Texas Motor Speedway during the Lone Star Corvette Club Corvette Classic.
Recreational events are the non-competitive side of club activities.  So it’s all about having fun!  We plan displays, cruises, road trips, parades, tours and dinners.  Several of our events are so popular that they have become “annual” events like the Fort Worth Stock Yards Run in January or February.
Other events include cross country trips that take us on adventures far and wide.   In 2013, the Club's Big Trip added Arizona and Nevada to the tour route on their way to Reno for Hot August Nights.  In 2014, we joined the Corvette Caravan to Bowling Green Kentucky for the National Corvette Museum's 20th Anniversary Celebration.   In 2015, the group headed back to Bowling Green to run around Motorsports Park and on to Charlotte to visit the Hendrick Motorsports Museum & Shops.  In 2016, LSCC traveled through the Midwest to encircle Lake Michigan culminating with a visit to Road America in Wisconsin and cheering on Corvette Racing to a win! In spring 2017, LSCC took its Sunshine Tour of Florida, driving all the way down the east coast to Key West then returning up the Gulf coast.  These annual trips have forged friendships and provided happy memories, beautiful photos, and lots of fun!   In 2018, LSCC headed to the mountains of Colorado to attend the "Vettes on the Rockies" car show in Steamboat Springs, CO. 2020, of course, was a stay at home year but in 2021, the plan is to head north to Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, the Black Hills and Banff if the country is open.

Procedure for managing club-sponsored event liability

As members of the Lone Star Corvette Club we all enjoy opportunities to get together and participate in group events. We are fortunate to have a large group of active members who host and participate in a wide variety of activities, ranging from day cruises, to parades, to overnight road trips, to car shows....and the list goes on.

These events can be a lot of fun.

Occasionally, however, things do not go as planned. Accidents do happen. Therefore it is important for all Lone Star Corvette Club members and event coordinators to be aware of the steps necessary to protect our club from very serious liability claims.  As a club, when we coordinate member participation in club related activities that involve caravans, parade routes, club-sponsored displays, competitive driving, and similar activities, it is very important that certain procedures are followed.

Event Coordinators, PLEASE NOTE:

- For any event you are coordinating, please check with the Recreational Events Officer to determine whether or not your event requires a completed Independent Club Event Liability (ICEL) form  The Recreational Events Officer will help you get the form completed and submitted to our club Insurance Agency.

If your event involves a caravan route or parade route, you will need to provide an illustration of the planned route (e.g., Google Maps). If your event involves a parking/display area, you will need to provide a layout.

Your event will not be fully covered until you have received confirmation back from the Recreational Events Officer.  ICEL forms need to be submitted to our insurance agency no later than 2-weeks before your scheduled club event.  So, be sure not to wait until the actual date of your event arrives, or it will not be covered.  The required ICEL form is located HERE.

- Most covered events will also require participants sign participation waivers.  These waivers would need to be signed on-site at the event, before participation begins.  Once your event is complete, please return all signed waiver forms to the Recreational Events Officer. The waiver form can be found HERE.

While these measures require some additional work for those of us coordinating and participating in club events, it is important for us to take these steps in order to protect the Lone Star Corvette Club.
